After meeting at our agreed location, we begin our 5-day tour from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert. We’ll head southeast through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’tichka Pass (2,260 m), stopping to enjoy spectacular panoramic views and explore traditional Berber villages. Next, we’ll visit the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a famous backdrop for films such as Gladiator, The Mummy, and Sahara. After free time for lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” stopping for photos at Atlas Studios, the largest film studio in Africa. Passing through the Skoura Palms and the Rose Valley, we finally arrive at the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight at a hotel or riad.
Day 2: Dades Valley ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Tinjdad ⇢ Erfoud ⇢ Merzouga Erg Chebbi
After breakfast, we depart from Dades Valley toward the Merzouga Desert. The route passes through small Berber villages, Tinjdad, and Erfoud, marking the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. Upon arrival in Merzouga, we’ll take a short break before meeting our camels for an unforgettable camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes. Experience the magical desert sunset and enjoy the night in a fully equipped desert camp with Berber drumming and music under the stars—a perfect opportunity for incredible photos of the dunes at sunset and sunrise.
Day 3: Merzouga ⇢ Nomad Families ⇢ Khamlia ⇢ Merzouga (Camel Ride & Night in the Sahara)
A full day in the Sahara Desert, visiting Nomad families and the Gnaoua village of Khamlia, where we will enjoy traditional music performed on authentic instruments. Afterward, you’ll taste a traditional Berber Pizza for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a camel ride across Erg Chebbi, exploring the vast, mysterious sand seas of the desert. Overnight in a desert camp, surrounded by the peaceful dunes and starry skies.
Day 4: Merzouga ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Alnif ⇢ Draa Valley ⇢ Ouarzazate
After witnessing a stunning desert sunrise and enjoying breakfast, we return to Merzouga by camel. From there, we drive to Rissani, exploring its historic markets and traditional souks. Continuing through the Ksours and Kasbahs of Tafilalet, we pass Alnif, Tazarin, and the scenic Draa Valley before reaching Ouarzazate in the evening. Dinner and overnight at a hotel or riad in Ouarzazate.
Day 5: Ouarzazate ⇢ Atlas Film Studios ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Marrakech
After breakfast, we start the day with a visit to Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate, followed by our journey back to Marrakech. We cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi Tichka Pass (2,260 m), enjoying breathtaking views of valleys, peaks, and Berber villages along the way. Arrival in Marrakech in the evening marks the end of our 5-day Sahara Desert tour from Marrakech.
