After meeting at the agreed location, we will begin our 4-day journey from Marrakech heading southeast through the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m altitude). Along the way, we’ll stop to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and visit ancient Berber villages known for their traditional architecture. We then visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages, famous for its role in several films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. After lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the Kasbah, we continue through Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” before crossing the Skoura Oasis and heading to the scenic Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations and lush landscapes. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel or riad overlooking the valley.
Day 2: Dades Valley ⇢ Todra Gorges ⇢ Erfoud ⇢ Merzouga Desert (Erg Chebbi)
After breakfast, we depart from Dades Valley toward the spectacular Todra Gorges, located near the town of Tinghir. Along the way, we’ll pass through many kasbahs and small Berber villages nestled along fertile valleys. The drive offers magnificent views of the rugged canyon and local life in adobe homes. At the Todra Gorges, you will have free time to walk along the river between towering cliffs that rise up to 300 meters high. After lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops, before heading into the Merzouga Desert. There, your camels will be waiting for a breathtaking trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, where you will enjoy the sunset before reaching your desert camp. Dinner will be served under the starry sky, accompanied by Berber drums and traditional music around the campfire.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi Dunes ⇢ Nomad Families ⇢ Khamlia Village ⇢ Merzouga
Wake up early to witness the beautiful sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you’ll ride your camel back to the village where your driver awaits. Today will be dedicated to exploring the desert region, starting with a visit to Nomad families living in traditional tents to learn about their daily life and culture. Then, we continue to Khamlia Village, home to the Gnaoua people, where you’ll enjoy an authentic performance of their spiritual music. Lunch will be a traditional Berber pizza prepared in a desert style, and afterward, you’ll have time to relax at your hotel or riad in Merzouga, enjoying the tranquil desert atmosphere.
Day 4: Merzouga ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Midelt ⇢ Azrou ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Fes
After breakfast, we leave the Sahara behind and travel north toward Fes, passing through the vast Tafilalet Oasis, home to thousands of palm trees stretching along the Ziz River. We will stop at several viewpoints to admire the lush Ziz Valley, which flows down from the High Atlas Mountains. Our route continues to Midelt, known as “the Apple Capital,” where we will stop for lunch in the heart of the Middle Atlas Mountains. We then drive through Azrou, home to Morocco’s largest cedar forest, where you may see Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Before reaching Fes, we make a brief stop in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture. By evening, we arrive in Fes, marking the end of your 4-day tour from Marrakech to Fes.
